Jenny Fruin has been an amazing addition to Iowa Professional Organizers and Simple Organizing Strategies since she began in 2015! Born and raised in Iowa City, she is a resource to our group, to my company, and to the community. She understands life and she patiently and compassionately services the needs of our clients because she inately knows what to do and how to help. She has been a source of support both as a colleague and a friend. For these reasons and so many more, this is why Jenny should be the next call you make for Organizing Assistance!
Jenny is a mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who loves reading, being outside, traveling, and eating dessert! Jenny grew up in Iowa City and received a bachelor and masters degree from the University of Iowa in Speech/ Language Pathology. Upon graduating, she moved to central Illinois where she worked as a Speech Pathologist in an elementary school for 7 years. In 2009 Jenny and her husband welcomed a precious baby girl and soon realized that having children completely turns your world upside down. After adding another little girl in 2011 Jenny quickly realized that balancing motherhood and full time work was really difficult. She also realized that she missed the ideals and lifestyle she had grown up with in Iowa City. When her husband had a job opportunity arise in Iowa City, they decided to uproot their family and move back to the Hawkeye state. It’s a decision they continue to be thankful for to this day.
Upon returning to Iowa City, Jenny stayed home with her daughters and even added a little boy to the mix. Jenny has enjoyed seeing her children grow into 3 very different personalities and will always cherish the time she has gotten to spend with them. However, with two of them in school full time, Jenny again felt that struggle of work (or lack there of)/life balance. She was interested in finding a way to get outside the home, while still being able to drop her kids off at school and pick them up. Enter: Simple Organizing Strategies.
Jenny has always had a love for organization and order. She was able to use that passion throughout her college career by helping a professor file, shred, recycle, organize and declutter his office. She has also enjoyed helping her own family organize and declutter over the years. When Jenny felt the desire to work outside of the home again, she contacted Simple Organizing Strategies. Because organizing had always been a hobby and interest of Jenny’s, she took some classes I was teaching at Kirkwood, and that's where we met. I jumped at the opportunity to have Jenny begin organizing with Simple Organizing Strategies! Jenny's wish of part time/flexible hours and motherhood could coincide, (work/life balance achieved!). Jenny has learned a tremendous amount by working with SOS, the biggest of which is that no job is too big…you just have to dig in and get to work. Jenny has helped people in all stages of life, from newlyweds trying to combine 2 homes into one, to someone expecting a new baby, to someone moving to assisted living…and everything in between. Jenny finds joy in helping others achieve a more organized and stress-free life.
